The funeral mass for late Nollywood veteran actor Olu Jacobs is holding on Friday at This Present House, Freedom Way, Lekki Phase I, Lagos.
Family members, friends, colleagues and dignitaries have gathered to honour the celebrated actor, who died on September 16, 2026, at the age of 84.
Jacobs’ widow, veteran actress Joke Silva, and their sons, Olusoji and Olugbenga Jacobs, attended the service dressed in blue.

The actor’s casket was placed in front of the church and decorated with flowers as the funeral mass got underway.
Among the dignitaries at the service were Lagos State First Lady Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, Lagos State Deputy Governor Oba Femi Hamzat and his wife, Oluremi Hamzat. Former Ogun State Governor Ibikunle Amosun was also in attendance.
Entertainment entrepreneur Dare Art Alade also attended the service and performed “Pray for Me”, a song associated with Olu Jacobs and Joke Silva.
Olugbenga Jacobs also presented his father’s biography during the funeral proceedings.
The funeral follows a Night of Tributes held on Wednesday, September 30, at Glover Memorial Hall in Lagos Island. The event brought together several Nollywood stars, filmmakers and friends of the late actor.
Jacobs, whose full name was Oludotun Baiyewun Jacobs, built a career spanning more than five decades across theatre, television and film.
He became one of Nigeria’s most recognised actors and was honoured with the national award of Member of the Order of the Federal Republic.
The family had asked guests attending Friday’s funeral service to wear shades of green. A private burial is expected to follow the service.
