Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has responded to a petition filed by former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello, regarding her allegations that Bello and Senate President Godswill Akpabio plotted to assassinate her.
Natasha claimed that Akpabio instructed Bello to eliminate her in Kogi State, making it appear as though the attack was carried out by her constituents. She made these allegations during a visit to her constituency in Okehi, Kogi State.
Yahaya Bello’s legal team petitioned the Inspector General of Police, demanding Natasha provide credible evidence to support her claims.
If she fails to do so, they want her arrested and prosecuted for criminal defamation, inciting public disturbance, and spreading false information.

Through her lawyer, Victor Giwa, Natasha dismissed the petition as unnecessary, stating that she has solid evidence to back up her claims.
Giwa emphasised that the police should be allowed to do their job, as a petition has already been filed with the IGP.
Bello’s lawyers have also demanded a public apology and retraction of the allegations, warning that failure to comply could lead to civil and criminal proceedings.
They cited the Cybercrimes Act and Penal Code as grounds for legal action, arguing that Natasha’s statements damaged Bello’s reputation and could stir up ethnic and political unrest.
The situation remains tense, with both parties dug in and awaiting further developments.
