Take Skill Acquisition Training Seriously, Okrika Council Boss Urges Corps Members In Rivers

The Chairman of Okrika Local Government Area of Rivers State, Dr. Igwe Achese, has charged corps members posted to the state to take the skill acquisition training very seriously.

Achese explained that the skill acquisition trainings, both in-camp and post-camp are the new gateway to economic and financial freedom.

The chairman stated this on Friday, February 7, 2025, at the National Youth Service Corps NYSC, permanent orientation camp, Nonwa-Gbam Tai, when he paid a visit to the 2024 Batch C Stream II corpers on camp.

He said his visit was to inspire and motivate them on how to chart the course of a glorious future for themselves.

The Chairman whose visit coincided with the closing ceremony of SAED activities on camp advised the corps members not to miss the golden opportunity offered them by the NYSC through SAED.

He informed them that he is an, “apostle and advocate of skill acquisition having benefitted immeasurably from it as a trained auto mechanic, baker and electrician.”

Achese noted that these skills provided him the financial capacity to self sponsor himself through school.

Concluding, he assured the coordinator and corps members of his administration’s continued support towards the successful implementation of NYSC programmes and activities in Okrika LGA in particular and the state at large.

On his part, the State Coordinator NYSC Rivers State, Mr. Moses Oleghe while welcoming the chairman, thanked him for being an NYSC friendly Chairman and particularly, for coming to the camp on a very important day marking the closing ceremony of SAED activities.

He further thanked him and his entourage for coming to share his wealth of experience with the Corps Members and more especially, on the importance of skill acquisition.

The Chairman was joined by his vice, the leader of the legislative house, political class and appointees.
