Relief International Africa Condemns Illegal Allotment of NDDC Internship Slots

Relief International Africa, a leading human rights organization in Nigeria, has strongly condemned the illegal allotment of internship slots by the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) to influential individuals and politicians.

The group described this act as a blatant violation of the commission’s earlier pledge to ensure fair and open access to these opportunities for qualified applicants who registered online.

The Managing Director of the NDDC had publicly committed to a transparent process. However, this illegal allocation undermines principles of fairness, equity, and transparency, denying deserving youths in the Niger Delta region access to life-changing opportunities.

Such actions, according to Relief International Africa, entrench inequality and perpetuate corruption, directly opposing the NDDC’s core mandate to serve the interests of the Niger Delta people.

In a statement, the Executive Director of Relief International Africa, Green Isaac, called for an immediate cessation of these illegal practices and demanded a transparent and merit-based internship selection process.

“Failure to address this injustice will compel us to pursue legal action against the NDDC for derailing its responsibility to the Niger Delta community,” Isaac said.

The organization urged the NDDC to uphold its integrity by prioritizing the welfare and future of the region’s youth. Relief International Africa reaffirmed its commitment to advocating for justice, equity, and good governance in Nigeria.
