Hennessy Brings “In the Paint” Initiative to Port Harcourt, Showcasing Local Talent and Community Spirit

Hennessy’s “In the Paint” initiative, known for its unique blend of art, community engagement, and sports, made its Port Harcourt debut on November 3, 2024, spotlighting celebrated local artist, Kingsley Archibong, also known as Kaylion. This third edition builds on two successful installations in Lagos, where Hennessy revitalized local basketball courts with bold art, reinforcing its commitment to communities across Nigeria.

Since its global launch in Montreal in 2021, the initiative has transformed basketball courts in cities worldwide, including Ghana, South Africa, and Mexico. In Nigeria, Hennessy first introduced the program in Lagos in 2022, renovating the Park 23 court in FESTAC, followed by Victoria Garden City in 2023. This year, the brand collaborated with Kaylion to transform the E-bluk court in Port Harcourt’s Elekahia estate into a vibrant space celebrating the city’s industrial heritage and cultural essence.

Kaylion, a Port Harcourt resident of over 15 years, infused the court’s design with his signature vibrant colors, drawing inspiration from the city’s reputation as Nigeria’s oil hub. “Basketball is more than just a sport; it’s a way to bring diverse people together,” he shared, underscoring the sense of unity he sought to capture in his work. His design prominently features Hennessy’s Bras Arme symbol, paying tribute to the brand’s support of local talent and its ongoing role in community revitalization.

The launch event brought together influencers, media personalities, and basketball enthusiasts, all witnessing a spirited game between local teams. This celebration of athleticism, creativity, and community spirit echoed the core values of Hennessy’s “In the Paint” program.

With its “Together, Let’s Cultivate the Future” initiative, Hennessy continues to make strides in corporate social responsibility by blending cultural enrichment with community development. Through these efforts, Hennessy not only redefines public spaces but also fosters the growth of local talent, leaving an indelible impact on communities around the world.
