There was widespread shock on Saturday morning 9 November 2024, near the popular Ikoku Market as residents and business owners stumbled upon the lifeless body of a man, estimated to be in his early 40s, with severe machete wounds.
Disturbingly, parts of his body, including his penis and sections of his buttocks, appeared to have been mutilated.
Eyewitnesses reported that the victim’s abdomen was also torn open, with intestines visibly exposed. The body was found near a bank at the Ayama Junction along Olu-Obasanjo Road.
A resident who spoke to our Correspondent described the scene, noting the severity of the machete wounds and speculating that the man was murdered. “The body wasn’t here last night, but we found it this morning,” the witness said.
The identity of the deceased remains unknown as of press time, and crowds gathered at the scene to take photos and videos.
When contacted, Rivers State Police Command Spokesperson, SP Grace Iringe Koko, said she would provide further details, though no additional information was available at the time of reporting.
