Rivers State FA Cup semi final game inconclusive due to violence

The Rivers State FA Cup semi final game between Nigeria Professional Football League club, Rivers United and SKE FC at the Sharks Stadium Port Harcourt on Wednesday was inconclusive due to violence.

Eye witnesses reported that some Rivers United loyalists invaded the pitch towards the end of the game, assaulted the centre referee and forcefully collected the whistle from him.

CEO of SKE Kingsley Olisa says the club will wait to see the reaction of the Rivers State Football Association.

It would be recalled that a centre referee was slapped twice at half time during last Sunday’s NPFL Match Day 22 match between Rivers United and Plateau United at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium Port Harcourt after he issued two red cards to two players from both teams.
