A bereaved family has called for an investigation into the death of a woman at Obio Cottage, Family Seeks Answers, alleing irregularities surrounding her treatment and the handling of blood reportedly purchased for her transfusion.
The daughter of the deceased, who shared an emotional account of the incident, said she had spoken with her mother earlier in the day and that she appeared to be in good condition before her health reportedly deteriorated.
According to her, her mother was taken to a private medical facility where medical personnel reportedly informed the family that her Packed Cell Volume (PCV) was critically low at 18 and that she required blood.
She said the family subsequently purchased blood at a cost of ₦45,000 and paid an additional ₦30,000 for admission and bed charges.
The daughter alleged that after she brought the blood to the facility, the situation became unclear, claiming that the blood was taken away and that she did not see it again.
She further alleged that her mother reacted during the process before she was later pronounced dead.
Expressing anger and grief over the incident, the deceased’s daughter called for the hospital to provide an explanation of the treatment administered to her mother and what happened to the blood purchased for the transfusion.
She is also demanding access to the relevant medical records, laboratory results and other documentation relating to her mother’s treatment.
The family has called for an independent investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death and establish whether there was any medical negligence or other wrongdoing.
The allegations have not been independently verified, and the position of the health facility involved was not included in the account made public by the deceased’s daughter.
The family is now seeking justice and urging relevant authorities to investigate the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death.
