Atiku employs 17 SANs to challenge presidential election result

The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, has appointed seventeen senior lawyers to argue his case at the Election Petition Tribunal.

The former Vice President inaugurated the legal team on Tuesday at his campaign headquarters in Abuja.

Atiku is contesting the outcome of the February 25 presidential election which produced Bola Tinubu of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) as the president-elect.

According to him, his team of Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SANs) would help him to reclaim his “stolen mandate”.

The members of the team include Mike Ozekhome (SAN), Chris Uche (SAN), Paul Usoro (SAN), Tayo Jegede (SAN), Ken Mozia (SAN), Mahmood Magaji (SAN), Joe Abraham (SAN), Chukwuma Umeh (SAN), Dr. Garba Tetengi (SAN) and Chief Emeka Etiaba (SAN).

Others are Chief Goddy Uche (SAN), Prof. Maxwell Gidado (SAN), A. K. Ajibade (SAN), O. M. Atoyebi, (SAN), Nella Rabana (SAN), Paul Ogbole (SAN), Nuremi Jimoh (SAN), and Abdul Ibrahim (SAN).

Like Atiku, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, has also headed to court.

Second-placed Atiku polled a total of 6,984,520 votes in the election while Obi emerged third in the election with a total of 6,101,533 votes.
