A 38-year-old Preye Harry has been arraigned before a Magistrate Court sitting in Ozuoba, Obio Akpor local government area of Rivers State, for allegedly defiling a girl of nine years for four years.
When the charges against the suspect was read in court, the presiding Magistrate, Chief Magistrate I.O Agbesor declined jurisdiction on the alleged defilement case.
The Court, however, ordered that the suspect be taken back to Ozuoba Police Division were he is being detained and advised that the matter be transferred to State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for proper arraignment of the suspect in a Court of competent Jurisdiction.
Meanwhile, a Lawyer with Legal Care Advocacy Foundation, Jane James told our reporter that they will follow up on the directive of the Chief Magistrate.
Recall that the suspect was arrested on Sunday 12 June, 2022, and detained at the Ozuoba Police Division in Obio/Akpor Local Goverment Area of the State, for allegedly defiling his female lover’s nine-year-old niece for four years.
