Hoodlums ignite Magistrate Court in Imo

A Magistrate Court in Ubulu, Oru West Local Government Area of Imo State, was on Monday attacked by yet-to-be-identified gunmen.

It was gathered that the court was lit up in the early hours of Monday after the hoodlums ignited it with a petrol bomb, Daily Sun reports.

Confirming the incident, the Interim Management Committee (IMC) chairman of Oru West, Willie Okolieogwo, said that although the attackers completely razed the court, no casualty was recorded in the inferno.

He expressed shock that the gunmen were still on the prowl despite the efforts so far made by the state government to check criminal activities.

“The government of Senator Hope Uzodinma is not relenting in proffering lasting solution to the issue of insecurity in our state. We are on top of the situation,” he assured.

Acc0ording to a source, the attack was carried out by over 20 hoodlums who gained entrance into the court premises shooting sporadically before igniting the whole building with their petrol bomb.

The police spokesperson in the state, Michael Abattam, who confirmed the incident, assured that efforts were in place to apprehend perpetrators of the act
