Police arraign man for impregnating 13-year-old girl in Port Harcourt

A thirteen-year-old girl has been disclosed to be four months pregnant for 19-year-old Samuel Sunday, who she claimed is her boyfriend, in a Magistrate Court sitting in Port Harcourt.

The suspect Samuel Sunday who was arraigned in court by the Police Human Rights Desk Rivers State Police Command faces a one-count charge of having unlawful carnal knowledge with an underage girl.

The act was allegedly carried out on 14 February 2021, at Ohakwe street Rumuigbo in Port Harcourt magisterial district.

According to the charge, the offence committed is punishable under section 218 of criminal code, Cap 37, Volume 2, Laws of Rivers State 1999.

The suspect Samuel Sunday when asked to take his plea, pleaded not guilty to the charge against him.

The presiding Magistrate, Chief Magistrate Gomba Osaro, remanded the suspect in prison custody and adjourned to 16 August 2021, for bail consideration.
