Soldiers of the Nigerian army have taken over strategic spots in Oyigbo Local Government Area of Rivers State after a long night of gunshots and fears.
Governor Nyesom Wike had on Wednesday imposed a 24 hours curfew on the LGA following the burning of two police stations and killing of at least five persons, including two police officers.
Nnamdi Omoni, the public relations officer of the state command blamed the unrest on the members of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, whom has been accused of launching attacks on security personnel in the area.
Gerald Offorji, the Oyigbo Council boss said soldiers were drafted to maintain law and order in the LGA.
