Rivers Police Command to review deployment of officers to state taskforce

As reactions continue to trail the killing of W/Sgt Lovender Elekwachi, a traffic police officer by Sergeant Bitrus Osaiah attached to the Rivers State Government Task Force on street trading and illegal motor parks, the state’s police command says it will review the deployment of police officers attached to task force operations in the state.

The state’s police command public relations officer, Dsp Nnamdi Omoni, explained that the review is to ensure that officers posted to such operations are properly briefed on how to interact with citizens.

According to him: “We will not be lying low, we will review the deployment and see how we can take care of the situation by looking at other deployments, whether they are necessary.

“Where we think they are not, the CP working in alliance with force headquarters will review this deployment and take appropriate action in the deployments”
