Curfew: Port Harcourt residents complain of Police brutality (Pictures)

As the curfew imposed by the Rivers State Government goes into effect, residents of Port Harcourt have taken to social media to register their displeasure with the way they are being treated by the police.

The Rivers State Government on Monday imposed a dusk to dawn curfew on Obiri-Ikwerre Junction( Ozuoba, Rumualogu) to Choba and from Education Bus Stop to Agip Junction.

Governor Nyesom Wike said that the State Security Council reached the decision after it monitored compliance with the State Government’s directive.

He said: “With effect from Tuesday, March 31, 2020, there will be a dusk to dawn curfew from Obiri-Ikwerre Junction( Ozuoba, Rumualogu) to Choba and from Education Bus Stop to Agip Junction, Ikwerre Road.

Residents woke up to roads in their area blocked by police officers.

In some areas, residents said they were forced to raise their hands before crossing the roads.
