Court remands 2 for armoured cable theft

A Magistrate Court sitting in Choba Community in Obio-Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State has remanded one Godwin Sunday and Chibuike Onwumere in prison custody for conspiracy and stealing.

The two accused faces six-count charges of conspiracy, stealing, malicious damage, receiving of stolen property and unlawful escape from detention.

Godwin Sunday is alleged to have conspired with one other to steal an armoured cable worth three hundred and fifty thousand naira, installed in a company belonging to Rivers State Government in Rumuosi community.

While Chibuike Onwumere is alleged to have unlawfully escaped detention after receiving a stolen armoured cable worth three hundred and fifty thousand naira in his shop, located at Ikokwu spare parts market, Diobu, Port Harcourt.

The accused took their plea before Chief Magistrate Isreal Agbesor and pleaded not guilty to the count charges against them.

The presiding Magistrate, Chief Magistrate Isreal Agbesor, refused to grant the bail application of Counsels to the accused and adjourned to 18th April for bail consideration.

The Chief Magistrate ordered that the accused be remanded in prison custody till next adjourned date.
