Breaking: Taxi plunges into river in Port Harcourt. (Pictures)

A taxi with one passenger which was heading to Abuloma in Port Harcourt, plunged into the Amadi Ama river from the NLNG bridge in Port Harcourt.

A woman who was a passenger of the vehicle was drowned while the driver was rescued.

Eye witnesses report that heavy equipment from Julius Berger were moved to the area as search party was dispatched in a bid to evacuate the victims.

Locals who lived in the area said a similar incident happened on Monday night, adding that the locals tried unsuccessfully to evacuate the occupants of the vehicle.
