The Coordinator of the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement in Rivers State, Dr Kingsley Ogu, has said ongoing Federal Government projects and policies in the state could strengthen support for President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
Ogu stated this at the weekend in Port Harcourt while speaking after an expanded executive meeting of the movement.
He said the group would intensify grassroots mobilisation across Rivers State to explain to residents what it described as the impact of the Tinubu administration’s policies and projects in the state.
The meeting also featured a restructuring of the movement’s leadership, with Ogu emerging as State Coordinator and Bro Tammy Soberekon as Deputy Coordinator.
The restructuring also affected some state, senatorial district, federal constituency and local government coordinators, as well as women leaders in some local government areas.
According to Ogu, the exercise was aimed at strengthening unity, inclusiveness and productivity within the organisation ahead of the 2027 political season.
He identified the planned resumption of oil exploration in Ogoniland as one of the developments that could influence the economic fortunes of Rivers State.

Ogu said renewed oil activities in Ogoni could create employment opportunities and stimulate small and medium-scale businesses across the area.
“Let me tell you, when there is a re-entry in Ogoni, a lot of Rivers people will be employed. And because Rivers people will be employed at a macro level, then at the micro level; small and medium-scale businesses and the grassroots will also be empowered,” he said.
He also cited the establishment of the Federal University of Environment in Ogoni, saying the institution could attract students, workers, businesses and other economic activities to the area.
Ogu further mentioned activities around OML 58, the UBETA gas project and the second phase of the ASA gas project as developments he said reflected increased attention to the state’s oil and gas sector.
On the Federal Government’s removal of the petrol subsidy, Ogu acknowledged the impact of the policy on Nigerians but said initiatives involving gas-powered transportation could provide alternatives and reduce dependence on petrol.
He also advocated the establishment of state police, arguing that stronger state-level security structures could improve responses to security challenges and help curb the movement of criminals across state boundaries.
Ogu commended the founder of the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement, High Chief Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, whom he described as passionate about the development of the Niger Delta.
He also praised Tantita Security Services for its role in protecting oil infrastructure and supporting crude oil production.
Ogu said the movement would intensify its grassroots campaign by visiting communities and engaging residents directly on what it considers the benefits of the Tinubu administration.
“Our leader, High Chief Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo, is a result-oriented leader. Whatever he puts his hands on succeeds, and so we are going to get success in this goal of re-electing President Tinubu,” Ogu said.
