The South-South Chapter of the National Youths Council of Nigeria NYCN has called on multinational oil companies in Nigeria to relocate their headquarters to the Niger Delta region as directed by the Federal Government.

The Vice President South-South NYCN INNOCENT AJAYI said this during a press briefing to congratulate SUKUBO SARA-IGBE and Belema Oil for awarding scholarships to 600 students during the international youth day celebration in Port Harcourt.

INNOCENT AJAYI said the scholarship award to 600 students by indigenous oil firm Belema oil will boost the capacity of youths in the region.

The Secretary of National Youth Coalition South-South OKONI KENNETH while commending Belema oil for relocating its headquarters in Kula called on Niger Delta governors to mandate oil firms to relocate their head office to the region.

He said that more youths in the region will be gainfully employed when oil multinationals relocate their headquarters to their oil communities.

In his address, the Chairman of the Coordinators Forum of NYCN in Rivers State Dimkpa Kingsley called on other multinationals to emulate the gesture of Belema oil.

He also congratulated the National President of NYCN Sukubo Sara-Igbe for his leadership style that attracted Belema Oil to award scholarships to 600 students across the country.

”We are very happy for the gesture Belema oil did to Rivers youths especially the slots that were given to local government areas, indeed we are very very happy”.

”I want to also extend the same hand of fellowship to the National President, Amb Sukubo Sara-Igbe for finding it necessary for allowing all youths across the state to benefit from the scholarship awards”.

”In the same vein, we want to ask other oil multinationals to follow the examples of Belema Oil, because this is a people-oriented project and we are happy about it because the scholarships will enhance education in Rivers State” he said.
