Body of man, 80, found inside mosque

Police in Glasgow have invaded a mosque after the body of a man was discovered in the early hours of Thursday morning.

The building was cordoned off as officers attempted to establish the cause of death – which is being described as non-suspicious.

A Police spokeswoman told Mirror Online that “At around 3.40am police were called to reports of an 80-year-old man’s body being found at the Central Mosque.

“A post mortem examination will be carried out to establish the exact cause of death.

“The death is currently being treated as non-suspicious.”

No one from the mosque was available for comment.

The mosque was the first purpose-built place of worship for Muslims in the city when it opened in 1984, costing £3million to build.

Thousands visit the venue every week.

The main prayer hall has space for 2,500 people.
