Police commissioner bans SARS from manning check-points

The Delta State Commissioner of Police, Adeleke Adeyinka, has declared that it is illegal for men of Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS) to man roads on stop and search duties.

This comes after reports of series of harassments, intimidations and extortions by the squad.

The CP stated that men of SARS have no business mounting checkpoint on stop and search duties, urging residents to report any such checkpoint to the command.

He assured that the command shall remain steadfast in its irresistible fight against crime and flagrant abuse of fundamental and human rights in Delta state.
