Cultists attack students at Rivers State University.

There was pandemonium on Monday at the Rivers State University Nkpolu-Oruworuku as cultists attacked students in one of the departments.

Theportcitynews gathered that the cultists numbering about three attacked students in the department of Mass communication following a fracas.

It was further learnt that the rampaging cultists who were armed with guns stormed the classroom at about 11 am while the students were waiting for lectures.

They were said to be on a revenge mission following a fight that happened outside the campus over the weekend.

An eyewitness said the cultists subsequently shot into the classroom to scare the students who then raised alarms which attracted the attention of Police officers in the school.

According to the eyewitness account, the police officers intervened and apprehended the cultists, adding that the situation created palpable tension on campus.

The public relations officer of the University did not immediately respond to our enquiry. However, normalcy has since returned to the environment.
