Breaking: Dino Melaye turns self in to the police

The lawmaker representing Kogi West district, Senator Dino Melaye, is presently in the custody of the Nigeria Police Force, Channels Television has learnt.

A source at the Force Headquarters in Abuja confirmed this on Friday.

The police carried out a search of the lawmaker’s residence in the nation’s capital while he was taken to the office of the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (FSARS) in Guzape.Although Senator Melaye had earlier said he was not in the house, the police said he opened the door to the residence himself at about 3 pm today.When he came out of the door, he reportedly slumped to the floor as if he was ill in the presence of some senators of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and police personnel.He was later assisted onto his feet and eventually taken to the F-SARS headquarters amid tight security.More to follow…
