Police denies paternity issues led to the strangling of 4 children by dad

The Rivers State Police Command has said it is investigating as a homicide, the case of Patrick Arcibong, the man who allegedly strangled four of his children and killed himself in Alesa, Eleme Local Government Area.

Mr Achibong from Ogoja in Cross Rivers State reportedly strangled the four children after an argument with his wife over the paternity of the children.

Eyewitness’ accounts of some of Late Patrick’s neighbours indicate the late man’s wife made comments about the paternity if the four children.

However, the Rivers Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Nnamdi Omoni, said it was possible that the killing of the four children and the suicide may have been stage-managed.

“There were pieces of bread and a liquid that looks like tea beside the murdered children.

“We are looking at the possibility that the bread may be poisonous. We have taken it for further investigation.

“We are also following other pointers that I may not be able to reveal to you now so that it does not jeopardize our investigation. But I can assure you we leaving no stone unturned in this matter.
