Information reaching theportcitynews say violent clashes between Bomu and Lewe communities in Gokana local government area of Rivers State is currently ongoing.

Communal clashes between the two communities have led to the loss of over 50 lives and thousands of properties destroyed.

The 6 Division of the Nigerian Army, in September, intervened in the crises in a bid to quell the incessant loss of lives.

However, one of the communities failed to show up for the peace process leading to the suspension of the process.

It is not yet clear whether there are casualties in today’s clash.

A call to the Public relations officer of the Rivers State police command, Nnamdi Omoni, for comments on the matter was not answered. The PPRO did not also respond to our text messages.
