WAEC,GCE to introduce machines to curb exam malpractice

The Zonal coordinator of West African Certificate Examination (WAEC), Mr. Gershon Sandak, says this year’s WAEC/ GCE has been properly checked to curb candidates impersonation and malpractices.

The Zonal Coordinator, Gershon Sandak revealed this to our TPCN correspondent during a chat at his office in Port Harcourt.

Mr. Sandak said the board has put up a biometric-like machinery to properly take candidates physical data’s (thumb print, photographs, etc) during candidates registrations. And these machines are taking down to exam centers to ensure that candidates sitting for the exams are the same candidates who registered to write the exams.

Apart from the machines, photo cards of each candidate must be presented for thorough identification before the candidates are allowed to go in and write the exams.

The Coordinator also dismissed the rumour that, a higher level of examination malpractices go on during WAEC/GCE, than the normal school exam.
He added that the GCE exams will be rounding up tomorrow the 4th of October.

Theportcitynews reports that the total number of candidates that registered to write this years GCE in Rivers state is 7,000.
