Victor Osimhen featured as Galatasaray claimed a 2-0 victory over VfB Stuttgart in their UEFA Champions League Matchday Four encounter at RAMS Park on Tuesday night.
The Nigerian striker started for the Turkish champions as they secured their second win in the competition’s league phase, moving to six points.
Galatasaray made a bright start, with Aleksey Batrakov scoring twice in the opening 15 minutes. The Russian forward opened the scoring in the 12th minute before doubling the hosts’ advantage three minutes later.
The early goals gave Okan Buruk’s side control of the contest, although Stuttgart created opportunities to get back into the match. Galatasaray maintained their two-goal advantage to secure all three points.
Osimhen also had opportunities to add to the scoreline, but could not find the net. The Nigerian forward continued to play an important role in Galatasaray’s European campaign as the club strengthened its position in the league-phase standings.
The victory followed Galatasaray’s 4-2 away win over Lille in their previous Champions League fixture.
The Turkish champions will now turn their attention to their next European assignment as they seek to maintain their momentum in the competition.
