The Nigerian University Games Association (NUGA) has postponed the 28th edition of the NUGA Games, which was initially scheduled to take place from November 14 to 24, 2026, at the University of Calabar (UNICAL), Cross River State.
The multi-sport competition has been moved to 2027, although the organisers are yet to announce a new date.
The 28th edition, tagged the Paradise Games, is expected to bring together student-athletes from universities across Nigeria to compete in various sporting events and showcase their talents.
The competition also seeks to promote sportsmanship, national unity and excellence in university sports while providing a platform for emerging talents to gain recognition.
In its announcement, NUGA acknowledged the efforts and continued support of participating universities, student-athletes, sports administrators, partners and other stakeholders who have contributed to preparations for the event.
The association assured stakeholders that further details, including the revised dates and arrangements for the competition, would be communicated through its official channels in due course.
NUGA also appealed for the understanding and continued cooperation of all stakeholders as preparations for the 28th edition continue ahead of its rescheduled 2027 date.
