Rangers International remain top of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) table after Matchday 8, while Rivers United continue their unbeaten run in the 2026/27 season.
Rangers have 17 points from eight matches, having recorded five wins, two draws and one defeat. They have scored 14 goals and conceded nine.
Rivers United sit second with 16 points after four wins and four draws. The Port Harcourt-based club have conceded only two goals in eight matches, keeping them one point behind the leaders.
Plateau United occupy third place with 14 points after an emphatic 4-0 victory over Kano Pillars on Matchday 8. Paul Samson, Ekundayo Ojo, Samuel Ayanrinde and Nenrot Silas scored to secure the win.
Barau, Doma Complete Top Five
Barau FC sit fourth with 13 points, level with Doma United in fifth place. Barau earned a 2-2 draw against Rangers, while Doma United suffered a 2-0 defeat to Nasarawa United.
Ikorodu City occupy sixth place with 12 points, followed by Bendel Insurance, Sporting Lagos and Katsina United in seventh, eighth and ninth positions, respectively.
Kano Pillars and Nasarawa United are 10th and 11th, with 11 points each. Kwara United sit 12th with 10 points, level with Warri Wolves in 13th place.
Pressure Builds at the Bottom
Niger Tornadoes and Abia Warriors occupy 14th and 15th positions with nine points each.
Ranchers Bees are 16th with eight points, while Shooting Stars and Kun Khalifat occupy 17th and 18th places with the same tally.
Enyimba sit 19th with seven points after a 4-2 defeat to Katsina United. Inter Lagos remain bottom with two points following the deduction of three points and three goals by the league.
