Rivers United captain Stephen Manyo has warned his teammates against complacency despite their impressive unbeaten start to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season.
The Pride of Rivers have recorded four wins and three draws in their opening seven league matches, establishing themselves as one of the early contenders in the campaign.
However, Manyo insists the team remain grounded and focused on their objectives, stressing that there is still a long way to go this season.
“The spirit in the camp is good, the training session has been good as well, and everybody is happy,” Manyo told Rivers United’s media.
“We are not losing focus. We still have a long way to go.
“We haven’t won anything yet. Our feet are on the ground, and the coach has urged us to stay focused. We are ready for the next game,” he added.
The captain’s comments reflect the team’s determination to maintain their momentum while avoiding the complacency that can follow a strong start to a league campaign.
Rivers United will now turn their attention to their next NPFL fixture against Abia Warriors this weekend in Umuahia, where they will aim to extend their unbeaten run.
With confidence growing within the squad, Manyo and his teammates will be keen to translate their early-season form into consistent results as they pursue their targets for the campaign.
