The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has commenced the rehabilitation of four transmission towers vandalised along the Afam-IPP-Elelenwo 132kV Double-Circuit Transmission Line in Rivers State.
TCN disclosed this in a statement signed by its management on Monday, saying the damage was discovered on August 6, 2026, during an inspection by its lines engineers from the Port Harcourt Region.
The affected structures, identified as Towers T50 to T53, were vandalised after their tower members were removed and carted away.
“This is the fifth vandalism attack on the same line in recent times,” the company said.

TCN said rehabilitation work was ongoing and called on stakeholders to support efforts to protect transmission infrastructure and prevent further attacks.
“As rehabilitation work progresses, we enjoin all stakeholders to join hands to curb the menace that is threatening the stability of the national grid,” the statement added.
The Afam-IPP-Elelenwo transmission line is part of the electricity transmission network serving the Niger Delta region.
The latest incident adds to concerns over the impact of vandalism on transmission infrastructure and the reliability of electricity supply across the country.
