A militant group identified as the Ekpeye Freedom Fighters in Rivers State has appealed to the Federal and State Governments to consider granting its members amnesty and supporting their reintegration into society.
The group also called on Nigerian music star Burna Boy and entertainment executive Soso Soberekon to mediate between its members and the government.
In a statement, the group expressed its desire for peace and said it was willing to pursue a peaceful resolution of issues between its members and the government at all levels.
The group further appealed for an amnesty arrangement that would enable its members to abandon militancy and return to civilian life.

It also expressed appreciation to Burna Boy and Soso Soberekon for what it described as their empowerment programmes, scholarship initiatives and infrastructural development projects in Ahoada West Local Government Area of Rivers State.
The group said such interventions had contributed to the wellbeing of communities in the area, while urging the two personalities to support efforts towards dialogue and reconciliation.
The appeal comes amid renewed calls for peaceful engagement and reintegration of armed groups in the Niger Delta.
