The Bonny Legislative Council has honoured the Chairman of Bonny Local Government Area, Amasenibo Abinye Blessing Pepple, with an award for his contributions to governance and grassroots development.
The award, titled “Trailblazer in Governance and Grassroots Development,” was presented on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, during a grand reception organised by the 10th Assembly of the Bonny Legislative Council to commemorate its first year in office.
The event brought together members of the Legislative Council, council officials, political stakeholders and other dignitaries. It also provided an opportunity for the Assembly to review its activities over the past year and reflect on its working relationship with the Executive arm of the council.
Presenting the award, the Leader of the 10th Assembly, Kingsley Tammy Jumbo, commended Chairman Pepple for his cooperation and support towards the effective functioning of the Legislative Council.
Jumbo said the cordial relationship between the Executive and Legislative arms had contributed to the implementation of programmes and initiatives aimed at improving the welfare of residents and advancing development across Bonny LGA.
He said the Assembly decided to honour Pepple in recognition of his leadership and contributions to grassroots governance, describing the award as a gesture of appreciation for his support and partnership with the legislature.

“On behalf of myself, the Vice Chairman of Council, and members of my team, we are elated with this honour you have given to us,” Pepple said.
The Chairman also commended the Legislative Council for what he described as a productive approach to its legislative responsibilities and its commitment to maintaining a constructive relationship with the Executive.
“I am extremely overwhelmed by the way and manner in which the 10th Assembly has doggedly and legislatively packaged itself in a productive manner,” he said.
Pepple subsequently dedicated the award to members of his administration, acknowledging their contributions and support towards the implementation of programmes and initiatives of the local government.
The event also highlighted key areas of focus of the administration, including infrastructure development, youth and women empowerment, tourism, education, security, social welfare and human capital development.
The Bonny Legislative Council congratulated the Chairman on the recognition and reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining collaboration with the Executive arm in the interest of the people of Bonny.
The Assembly also wished Pepple continued wisdom, strength, and success in his efforts to provide effective governance and promote sustainable development across Bonny Local Government Area.
