Celta de Vigo’s struggles on the road continued as they were held to a 1-1 draw by 10-man Getafe at the Estadio Coliseum, extending their run to just one victory in their last eight away matches across all competitions.
Getafe’s season has followed something of a Jekyll-and-Hyde pattern. While the Azulones had won both of their previous home matches this term, they had failed to collect a single point away from home.
Back on familiar territory, they looked capable of continuing their strong home form, although an early injury to Kiko Femenía forced José Bordalás into a change after just seven minutes, with Andrés García taking his place.
The hosts soon threatened to open the scoring when Ramon Terrats found himself one-on-one with Ionuț Radu, only to curl his effort wide. Celta registered the first shot on target, however, as Hugo González tested David Soria with a comfortable effort.
Getafe eventually broke the deadlock midway through the first half. Celta failed to clear a corner effectively, allowing the ball to fall to Martín Satriano, who produced a composed close-range finish into the top corner to register his first goal of the season.
Rather than push for a second, Getafe adopted a cautious approach and appeared content to protect their advantage. Surprisingly, they continued with the same conservative tactics after the interval, and a series of defensive errors almost allowed Celta to capitalise.

The visitors eventually punished Getafe’s passivity just before the hour mark. González delivered a dangerous corner towards Carl Starfelt, and although the Sweden international failed to make perfect contact, his header still had enough power to beat Soria and restore parity.
Getafe responded positively to the equaliser and appeared to be regaining control of the contest. Their momentum was abruptly halted, though, when Zaid Romero was shown a second yellow card for a late challenge on González, leaving the hosts with 10 men.
Celta subsequently dominated possession and territory, but despite their numerical advantage, the visitors struggled to create clear-cut chances in the closing stages. Neither side could find a winner as the match ultimately petered out into a share of the spoils.
The draw means Celta remain without a victory after their opening five LaLiga matches for a second consecutive season. They will look to finally get off the mark when they face Málaga next time out.
For Getafe, the result will offer some encouragement, although their lack of attacking output remains a concern, with the Azulones having scored just twice so far this campaign.
