The Executive Chairman of the Rivers State Internal Revenue Service (RIRS), Sir Israel O. Egbunefu, FCTI, has been inducted as a Patron of the Boys’ Brigade Nigeria, Rivers State Council, in recognition of his integrity, discipline, leadership and commitment to service.
The induction took place on Sunday, August 30, 2026, during the 2026 Enrollment Service of the Garrison Battalion at New Covenant Anglican Church, Oro-Abali Deanery, GRA, Port Harcourt.

Held under the theme, “Pressing Towards the Goal,” from Philippians 3:14, the event featured the induction of Patrons and Officers, enrollment of Boys and NCOs, dedication of musical instruments, thanksgiving, and presentation of trophies and awards.
Senior officials of the Brigade, including the National Patron, Golden Otonye Tamunosoye, Esq., and State President, Dr. Chukwudi Ebimnamaonye, commended Egbunefu for his character, discipline, and exemplary leadership, describing him as a fitting Patron.

They stressed that the role goes beyond ceremony, requiring Patrons to mentor and guide young people towards becoming responsible citizens and leaders.
Delivering the sermon, Rev. Michael Wopara urged members of the Brigade to remain committed to Christian service and encouraged church members to participate in service departments actively.

The Rivers State Internal Revenue Service congratulated Egbunefu, describing the honour as a call to Christian mentorship, character development and service to humanity.
The ceremony ended with a reception at Creek View Hotel, GRA, Port Harcourt, hosted by the Garrison Battalion Council.
