The track industry in Nigeria has been rocked by a high-profile settlement conflict. Fast-rising Afrobeats star Crown Ujamaa, popularly called Shallipopi, has publicly accused his former label head, Damilola Akinwunmi (CEO of Dapper Music), of signature forgery, financial fraud, and unauthorized sale of his entire music catalogue.
In an explosive announcement shared via his legit X (formerly Twitter) account on Saturday, the “Pluto Presido” crooner claimed that Dapper Music secretly changed its settlement terms and pocketed huge advances from the worldwide record label company.
According to Shallipopi, he initially signed the original management agreement with Dapper Music in 2023. However, he alleges that Akinwunmi created a 10-year binding distribution agreement by signing his name on legal documents.

Furthermore, Shallipopi claimed that Dapper used Shallipopi’s signature to sign a multi-million greenback catalog deal with worldwide distribution giant Virgin Music Group without his knowledge or consent.
“In 2023, I signed to Dapper management only. He forged my signature and put it on a 10-year distribution contract even when I was already using DistroKid,” Shallipopi stated in his viral post.
“He also signed me earlier and went on to sign with a global label known as Virgin Music Group. I may be from the trenches, yet I’m not the dumb type. Dapper went ahead to collect cash from Virgin Music Group, put all that money in his pocket, and told me to work more and that my money is in the future!”
