The Host Communities Development Trust (HCDT), established under the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA), is responsible for overseeing over 1,100 development projects in the Niger Delta, as reported by the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC).
The Assistant Director of Host Community Development Affairs at NUPRC, Kingsley Ehiaguinaji, shared this information during the inauguration of the Board of Trustees of PML 66. The Host Communities Development Trust, in Port Harcourt, is arranged by Ingentia Energies Limited.
The trust is responsible for the management of Egbolom, Omelema and Ahoada I communities situated in the Ahoada West Local Government Area of Rivers State.
Ehiaguinb characterized the swearing-in as another milestone in the implementation of plans to establish the Host Communities Development Trust, which was designed to ensure that oil-producing communities receive development support from petroleum operations.

According to him, 163. Currently, Host Communities Development Trusts have been established and contributed billions of naira to their accounts to finance community projects. He stated that the number of projects completed throughout the region exceeds 200.
He commended Ingentia Energies Limited for its compliance with the Petroleum Industry Act and promised to ensure that the commission would pay its required three per cent towards community development.
In addition, Ehiaguina called on the recently established Board of Trustees to be honest and responsible in using resources from the trust for the betterment of host communities.
Charles Odita, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Ingentiy Energies Limited (Ingento Energy), announced at an event that the trust was created to ensure an inclusive and effective development process after extensive consultations with stakeholders and members of the host communities.
