‎Rivers United Spot Two New Potential Strikers

As Rivers United get ready for the 2026/2027 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season they need to focus on getting the squad strengthen before the resumption of the new season. The team from Port Harcourt based team did well in the last campaign, the from the Goalkeeping to the midfield, but their major challenges was being able to convert chances which caused them loosing the title to the opposition side.

‎As the clubs are still on break, it will be tremendous that the Pride of Rivers take advantage of the break to boost their attacking strength. Rivers United needs a player who can score goals regularly in the league and in international competitions. Two players stand out as options— Rangers International’s Godwin Obaje and Ikorodu City’s Joseph Arumala.

‎Obaje has a lot of experience and a great record of scoring goals, he played for teams, including Wikki Tourists, Abia Warriors and Rangers International and has shown he can score goals. His physical presence, strength and smart movement make him a good player to lead the attack. Obaje has been one of the scorers in the NPFL before and has the experience to perform well under pressure.

‎On the other hand Joseph Arumala is young fast and has a lot of potential—he scored 13 goals in the 2025/26 NPFL season, which was one of the highest in the league. This attribute shows he can compete with the defenders, his sharp finishing, quick acceleration and relentless pressing would bring energy to Rivers United’s attack.

‎Either of these players would make Rivers United’s attack stronger. Obaje brings leadership, experience, and the beautiful thing is that he can make an impact right away. Arumala brings energy and has the potential to be a great player in the future —Their different qualities give the club options depending on what they’re looking for.

‎The 2026/27 season is expected to be very competitive and Rivers United can’t afford to not have a reliable goalscorer. If they sign Godwin Obaje or Joseph Arumala before the transfer window closes it would not help their chances of winning the title but also make a strong impression, in continental football.
