Overwhelmed candidate of the All Progressives Congress APC, for the Brass/Nembe Federal Constituency in the forthcoming 2027 elections, Hon. Jonathan Robinson Obuebite, has poured encomium on the Bayelsa State governor, Senator Douye Diri, over Nembe-Brass road.
Obuebite gave this commendation on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, in a statement made available to TPCN, where he revealed how the governor transformed 83-year-old aspiration of the riverine people into reality.
The APC candidate described what he termed Diri’s visionary commitment in driving the construction of the road as courageous leadership.
According to him, “governor Diri’s determination to embark on the project despite widespread scepticism has transformed an 83-year-old aspiration of the riverine people into reality.
“Many initially dismissed the governor’s promise to construct the road as a political stunt, including some indigenes of Nembe.
“Governor Diri remained focused and has delivered beyond expectations through the construction of the 21.6-kilometre Phase One of the project, which includes 10 bridges spanning the Kiberi River, Nembe 4 River and St. Nicholas River, providing access to communities that had long remained isolated.”
Obuebite also commended the governor over what he described as his strategic engagement with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, which he said led to the approval and award of Phase Two of the road project.
He described the development as evidence that purposeful leadership attracts meaningful federal support.
The APC candidate stated that the successful execution of the Nembe-Brass Road has inspired confidence among the people of Brass and Nembe.
He described Diri as a leader whose sincerity, determination and commitment to development have earned him the admiration and prayers of the people.
Further, he prayed for God to grant the governor good health, wisdom and strength to complete the project within the planned December deadline, stressing that the people of Brass and Nembe, as well as the entire Bayelsa State, remain proud of the governor’s achievements.
