The Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC) has once again demonstrated its commitment to promoting non-oil exports by ensuring better cooperation with exporters and other stakeholders in Nigeria.
This was announced by the Executive Director and CEO of the council, Nonye Ayeni, at a stakeholders’ meeting organized at the NEPC South-West Regional Office.
The meeting had in attendance various stakeholders, including exporters, manufacturers, processors, traders, among others.
According to Ayeni, Nigeria achieved the highest exports revenue from non-oil products in the year 2025 amounting to $6.1 billion as against $5.46 billion in 2024. The council explained that the exporters exported more than 8.02 million metric tonnes of non-oil products to 120 countries with 281 products.
She commended the exporters of the country for being resilient and committed as their activities have kept the country’s competitiveness in the export market alive despite the challenging times economically.
According to her, the council has been making efforts in the form of trainings, mentoring programmes, certification of products, market access among others in support of the exporters.
In the case of the Export Expansion Grant (EEG), she informed about some success in processing all pending applications for 2021 and 2022 and assured that the Federal Government would make an announcement soon regarding payment.
Another important news was that Nigeria will be hosting the 5th Intra-African Trade Fair (IATF) in Lagos from November 5 to 11, 2027. It is anticipated that the fair will witness participation from over 100,000 people, 2,500 exhibitors from more than 100 nations.
Ayeni called upon all the stakeholders to cooperate with the council in increasing non-oil exports, creating employment opportunities and foreign exchange earnings.
