Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has described fathers as the unsung pillars holding families and the nation together, praising their quiet sacrifices and unwavering commitment amid tough economic realities.
In a special message by his Chief Press Secretary Mr. Onwuka Nzeshi to mark the 2026 Father’s Day celebration, Governor Fubara lauded fathers across the state’s 23 Local Government Areas for their daily struggles to provide for their households despite prevailing national challenges.
“A father’s love is quiet strength,” the governor declared. “It is the man who leaves home before dawn and returns after dusk so his children can eat and go to school. It is the man who denies himself so his family can have. It is the firm hand that corrects and the open arms that forgive. That love is the invisible thread that holds our homes together, and that sacrifice is the foundation of our society.”
Fubara noted that many fathers labour under the sun, paddle through floods, and endure hardships just to give the next generation a better life. “That is heroism without medals,” he added.
The governor stressed that strong fathers build stable families, which in turn create peaceful communities and a thriving state. “When fathers stand, families stand; when families stand, communities stand; and when communities stand, Rivers State stands,” he said.
He pledged that his administration would continue to draw strength from the resilience of fathers in building a better Rivers State. Fubara also offered prayers for good health, strength, and long life for all fathers, grandfathers, uncles, guardians, and mentors.
