A long-standing leadership crisis in the Twon-Brass Kingdom of the Brass Local Government Area of Bayelsa State has been sorted out after government intervention, in which all stakeholders have agreed to pull out court cases filed in connection with the controversy.
This was disclosed in the statement shared through the Bayelsa State Ministry of Information, Orientation and Strategy on Friday.
The agreement was arrived at in an important meeting held at Government House, Yenagoa, where leaders of the five communities within the Twon-Brass Kingdom agreed to accept peace and a new administration geared towards restoring order at the grassroots level.
Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri was represented at the meeting by the Deputy Governor, Peter Akpe, who called upon the warring parties to maintain the prevailing peace within the state and work as one family.

According to Akpe, while the five traditional rulers will continue to have equal powers, there will be a coordinating leader rotating among the five for a year to avoid any leadership gap.
Akpe disclosed the appointment of Chief Beinmo Rufus-Spiff as the Coordinating Amadabo for one year, starting from Wednesday, before the enthronement of an Amayanabo.
He also disclosed the composition of a five-man team charged with the responsibility of writing constitutions for the community to ensure good governance and avoid future conflicts.
The five-man team, headed by Chief Claudius Kune-Igoni of Kemmer-Ama, is expected to complete its work in eight weeks and will comprise members from the five communities.
These members are Chief Sisei Eke-Spiff Samuel of Ada-Ama, Chief James Sokari of Cameron-Ama, Chief Randy Sobogboma of Shidi-Ama, and Chief Bio Gbeghasa of Sambo-Ama.
The Deputy Governor stressed that the lack of functional written constitutions had in the past led to leadership wrangles and community conflicts and that the new constitution will ensure peace, accountability, and efficiency in governance among the communities.
He praised the stakeholders for their peaceful attitude in the process and urged them to continue working towards ensuring peace and unity in the Twon-Brass Kingdom.
