As part of a comprehensive strategy to establish Enugu State as a prominent center for technology-driven economic development, Governor Peter Mbah has heightened efforts to advocate for practical, skills-oriented education rather than solely theoretical instruction.
In alignment with this vision, a distinguished delegation from the Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT) has arrived in Doha, Qatar, for an academic study visit concentrating on Artificial Intelligence (AI) innovation, applied learning, and implementation models.
The delegation, headed by ESUT Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Aloysius-Michael Okolie, is conducting inspection visits to academic and advanced learning institutions throughout Qatar to acquire firsthand knowledge of the nation’s applied learning frameworks.
Qatar is widely acknowledged for its premier educational institutions and strong focus on experiential and applied learning. This visit is part of a developing collaboration aimed at establishing a Centre for Artificial Intelligence Studies, Research, and Innovation at ESUT.
The proposed center is anticipated to enhance experiential learning opportunities for students while promoting research, innovation, and industry engagement in AI-related sectors.
During the visit, Prof. Okolie remarked that the initiative signifies the necessity for a substantial scale-up.
”We must examine successful models and engage with knowledgeable perspectives to align our programs with global standards in Robotics, Cybersecurity, Data Science, and Software Engineering,” he stated.
Prof. Okolie emphasized that the members of the delegation were meticulously chosen in accordance with the state’s strategic education and innovation agenda, praising Mbah’s vision for intelligent education and technological progress in Enugu State.
