Nollywood actress Oluebube Obio, the adopted daughter of filmmaker Uche Nancy, has reacted after facing criticism for her recent appearance at an All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign event in support of President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid.
The actress was recently spotted participating in activities supporting the APC and Tinubu, prompting some social media users to criticise and condemn her for allegedly backing the ruling party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Responding to the backlash, Obio claimed that she was forced to appear at the campaign event and urged those criticising her to understand that there was more to the situation than they knew.
In a statement shared on social media, the actress said her life and safety were allegedly at risk, adding that she was uncomfortable throughout the event.
“To all those people angrily shading and insulting me in relation to the ongoing APC campaign, I understand your pains and know that you guys are disappointed in me, but there’s something deep to it,” she said.
“I was actually forced to be in such settings. My life and safety are not guaranteed. If you watch the video closely, I myself felt so much discomfort and stress.”
Obio further claimed that she would reveal the identities of those allegedly behind the situation when she considers the time appropriate.
“When the time is right, I will expose the people blackmailing me. The least you can do is to pray for me,” she added.
Her comments come after social media users flooded her platforms with reactions following her appearance at the APC campaign activities.
Obio did not provide further details about the alleged individuals who she claimed forced or blackmailed her, nor did she explain the specific circumstances surrounding her appearance at the event.
