Dr Chimenem Worlu led faction of the Rivers State chapter of the National Youth Council of Nigeria NYCN, has describing meetings held in various communities under the umbrella of Rivers Youth Council as misleading and unauthorized.
Worlu in a statement by his Public Relations Officer, Amb. Prince Aleruchi, condemned the gatherings, insisting that they are not recognized by the state NYCN.
He claimed the meetings were merely community or village gatherings being deliberately misrepresented to deceive the public and create confusion.
His words: “The attention of all Rivers youths and the general public is hereby drawn to the recent emergence of certain individuals and groups who are organizing unauthorized meetings in various communities, falsely branding them as Rivers Youth Council meetings.
“Following the last engagement between His Youthfulness, Amb. Dr. Chimenem Worlu, Chairman of the NYCN Rivers State chapter, and key stakeholders alongside local government coordinators of the Council, it has become necessary to address this misleading development.
“We wish to categorically state that these gatherings are not recognized by the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Rivers State Chapter. They are merely community or village meetings being deliberately misrepresented to deceive the public and create confusion.”
Worlu reiterated that “the leadership of the NYCN Rivers State chapter remains the only legitimate body authorized to convene official Rivers Youth meetings.
“At the appropriate time, His Youthfulness will duly invite all recognized stakeholders and youths across the state to a crucial meeting aimed at charting a progressive way forward.”
He further urged youths of the state and members of the public to “remain vigilant and not fall victim to these deceptive tactics. Rivers youths have moved beyond such distractions and social media gimmicks.”
