Anambra-based cleric Chukwuemeka Ohanaemere, popularly known as Odumeje, has alleged that some Christian clerics in Nigeria stage miracles during church services.
The controversial preacher made the claim during a recent episode of The Honest Bunch Podcast, where he expressed concern over what he described as the growing prevalence of staged miracles in Nigerian churches.
“Arrangees [staged miracles] in churches are becoming too much in Nigeria. That is why I don’t go to other clerics’ churches as guest minister. I have turned down a lot of invitations,” Odumeje said.
He maintained that miracles reported in his own church could be verified, arguing that the identities of those involved were known and their accounts could be checked.
“The miracles we do here, we see their faces. You can take their names and verify,” he stated.
Odumeje also claimed that no other Nigerian Christian cleric could perform miracles comparable to those he attributed to himself, with the exception of the late Prophet Temitope Balogun Joshua, popularly known as TB Joshua, whom he described as his “father in the Lord”.
The cleric’s comments have brought renewed attention to questions surrounding claims of miraculous healing and other supernatural experiences in religious settings. His allegations, however, remain his own claims and do not establish that any particular cleric has staged a miracle.
