President Bola Tinubu has approved a fresh round of appointments across major education agencies as part of efforts to strengthen institutions under the Federal Ministry of Education.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the appointments affect key bodies including the National Examinations Council and the National Board for Technical Education.
Professor Modupe Adeola Adelabu has been named Chairman of NECO’s Governing Board, while Professor Ibrahim Dantani Wushishi will continue in his role as Registrar. Similarly, Professor Babatunde Salako has been appointed Chairman of the NBTE, with Professor Idris Bugaje earlier reappointed as Executive Secretary for a final five-year term.

In the polytechnic system, Dr. Bongfa Binfa has been appointed Rector of the Federal Polytechnic, N’yak-Shendam in Plateau State for a single five-year term, succeeding Dr. Mukaila Zakari Ya’u, whose tenure ended in March 2026.
The President also approved the renewal of Professor Chinwe Veronica Anunobi as Director-General of the National Library of Nigeria for another five years. Since her initial appointment in 2021, she has overseen reforms aimed at modernising the institution, including the introduction of digital platforms like the National Repository and Virtual Library.
According to the statement, the appointments are expected to bring experience, ensure continuity, and drive ongoing reforms across the education sector.
