The Federal Ministry of Education has opened applications for the second cohort of Nigeria’s National Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Programme, beginning today at 4:00 p.m. (WAT), with the initiative aimed at advancing human capital development under President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
According to a statement released on the Minister of State for Education’s official X account, Dr. Tunji Alausa said, “Today marks the opening of applications for the second cohort of our National TVET Programme, a key step in advancing human capital development under the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu, GCFR.”
Dr. Alausa recalled that more than 1.3 million Nigerians applied last year, reflecting the growing demand for practical skills and their impact on livelihoods and the economy.
He encouraged citizens of all ages to take advantage of the opportunity, stressing, “With TVET, you can build your own future.”
The programme, coordinated by the Federal Ministry of Education, offers hands‑on training across multiple sectors.
Courses typically run between six months and one year, with participants receiving nationally recognized certificates upon completion. To support learners, the government provides monthly stipends and access to modern facilities.
Entry requirements are inclusive, allowing Nigerians with at least a secondary school education or equivalent vocational experience to apply.

The programme is open to citizens of all ages, reflecting government efforts to widen access to practical skills training.
Training will be conducted in centres across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones, covering areas such as ICT and digital skills, construction and engineering trades, agriculture and agribusiness, hospitality and services, and creative industries and among others. These centres are intended to ensure equal access and inclusivity nationwide.
Beyond certification, participants gain market‑relevant skills that can lead to employment or self‑employment.
The initiative is part of the government’s broader plan to reduce unemployment and strengthen Nigeria’s human capital base.
Applications are now open nationwide, marking a new phase in Nigeria’s drive to equip citizens with practical skills and expand opportunities under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
