President Bola Ahmed Tinubu assured Nigerians that his administration has taken necessary steps to solve the persistent power blackouts in the country.
He made the promise on Friday, 27 March 2026, during the 4th Elective National Convention of the All Progressives Congress at Eagle Square in Abuja.
The President recognised the frustrations of many citizens over unreliable electricity supply. “We pay attention to the electricity problems many of you face,” he said.
He announced that the new Grid Asset Management Company injects an additional 1,500 megawatts into a fresh grid corridor. This move strengthens the transmission network and helps stabilise power supply across the nation.
Tinubu added that the government improves funding in the electricity sector.

“We improve on it. Electricity becomes better,” he stated. He linked reliable power to industrial growth and more economic opportunities for the people.
The assurance comes as Nigerians continue to experience frequent blackouts. The national grid collapses several times in recent years, including in 2025 and 2026. These incidents leave millions without power for long periods.
Challenges in the sector include old debts to generation companies and gas suppliers. Ageing transmission infrastructure also creates problems.
The Federal Executive Council approves the Grid Asset Management Company on March 4 to address these issues and optimise transmission assets.
President Tinubu earlier admits that the country still faces deep problems in the power sector despite some economic gains. His latest comments show renewed commitment to fix one of Nigeria’s major infrastructure challenges.
