Port Harcourt International Airport Reviews Charges

The management of the Port Harcourt International Airport has announced an upward review of its car park and access gate fees, with the new tariff set to take effect from March 1, 2026.

The decision was conveyed in an internal memorandum dated February 12, 2026, addressed to Heads of Department, directing immediate public sensitisation to inform airport users and stakeholders ahead of implementation.

Under the new structure, private cars will pay ₦500 for car park and access gate use, while Sports Utility Vehicles (SUVs) and Jeeps will be charged ₦1,000. Coaster buses will pay ₦2,000, and vehicles parked overnight will attract a flat rate of ₦10,000.

Trucks and container-laden vehicles with more than six tyres will also pay ₦3,000 at the access gate. Airport authorities said the review reflects rising operational and infrastructural costs, stressing the need for adequate public awareness to minimise confusion and resistance among users.

The adjustment follows a recent nationwide announcement by the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria on revised service charges across airports, aimed at improving service delivery, maintaining infrastructure, and addressing increasing operational expenses.

Observers say the increase could trigger mixed reactions from frequent travellers and transport operators, though officials insist the measure is necessary to ensure sustainable airport management.
